Celebrating the North East:  Sarah Omar – Taking the Time to Motivate Students in her Former School

Sarah Omar, the founder of “Sarah’s Cookie Jar”, also happens to be a former Dr. Gordon Higgins Student. Sarah is a self-proclaimed cookie connoisseur. She's been baking up a storm since she was seven years old, and in this case, practice makes perfect! Her cookie recipe has been in the works for several years and she has perfected her gourmet, and not to mention, ginormous cookies!

During quarantine, she began baking cookies at her parents' shop, Cedars Deli - Horizon, and the cookies got so much love from their local customers that she started an Instagram account to sell from there.

Over the past year and a half, she's received an overwhelming amount of support from her loyal clients and they continue to be amazed by the quality and thought that goes into each cookie.

The students in Mr. Brar’s business class were motivated by Sarah’s message of following your passions, but always staying persistent in the journey and keeping a big focus on academics along the way.

Student Feedback:

“She is so passionate about her career! The real inspiration comes from her fundraising to help her home country of Lebanon following the 2020 Beirut explosion” - Grade 9 DGH Business student

“She showcased that nothing is impossible if you go after what you want” - Grade 9 DGH Business student

“How impactful it can be to go into a profession you love. It allows you to go further and feel passionate about what you create” - Grade 9 DGH Business student

Sincerely,

Colin McCracken
